Friends and Families of the Alcoholic find help in Al-Anon Family Groups

Al-Anon is for anyone troubled by someone else’s drinking.

Al-Anon and Alateen--

Where you can find help…

Al-Anon is a mutual support program for people who are living with—or have lived with—someone whose drinking created problems for themselves or others. Sometimes the problem drinker is a spouse or partner. Sometimes parents are concerned about a child’s drinking. Sometimes the drinker is—or was— a parent or another relative. Alateen meetings offer mutual support for a peer group of young people, in a safe environment. How serious does the drinker’s problem have to be for Al-non to help? From the Al-non perspective, it doesn’t matter whether the drinker is an alcoholic or not. Instead, the more important question is: does the drinking trouble you? If so, an Al-non Family Group could be helpful to you.

Sometimes, a relationship with a problem drinker can have effects that can last long after the drinking has stopped or the relationship has ended. Al-non and Alateen's primary purpose is to help people who have been affected by someone else's drinking—whether the drinking is still active or not.

Families Anonymous

What is Families Anonymous?

FAMILIES ANONYMOUS is a 12 Step fellowship for the families and friends who have known a feeling of desperation concerning the destructive behavior of someone very near to them, whether caused by drugs, alcohol, or related behavioral problems. When you come into our rooms you are no longer alone, but among friends who have experienced similar problems. Any concerned person is encouraged to attend our meetings, even if there is only a suspicion of a problem.

Your identity is protected in our meetings. We know each other by our first names, only. Anonymity of our members is paramount to the success of our program. Not only is anonymity an underlying principle of the program, but it is so important that it is part of our name.

You have nothing to lose but your pain and anger. Read on if you are ready to find the peace and serenity that our members have found through the working of the FA program.
