First Post! 11/30/2011
As Recovery Inn's 4th Holiday season approaches I am reminded of where we started. I opened a small home in East Plano that houses six women in April 2008. Within two months we were busting at the seams with ladies wanting help and wanting to move in to Recovery Inn. Then within three months we were turning so many ladies away because we were full all the time that we opened our second home in November of 2008. What a journey! At first I just thought if I could help a few ladies change their lives that my mission would be accomplished. Once I got the initial ladies up and successful it was like I couldn't stop! I just kept allowing the vision to grow and shift. By the middle of our second year we opened a four-plex in East Dallas. With our total capacity being 32 women, between the six homes, we are able to assist more than I ever thought possible. Over the past four years we have been home to over 350 women. They say in parenting 'it's the parent that gets parented?', well I have definately been parented by over 350 women. They have taught me so many wonderful things about themselves and sometimes not so wonderful things. The good news is that I've been right where they are and experienced what they've been through in life. The ladies are looking for understanding and someone that can relate. That's why most families throw their hands up and say I don't know what to do. It's because if they are not an alcoholic or addict they cannot relate. Well at Recovery Inn, we can all relate. All the staff at Recovery Inn are in recovery and two of the staff have been past clients at Recovery Inn. We believe in the women we serve! We want to make a lasting impact in their lives and the lives of those around them! We know that if we can do it, so can they!
